“I always had the entrepreneurial spirit. I just didn’t know how I was going to hone in on it,” he shared.

In 2012, a layoff from his post-college job turned out to be the push he needed. He took that moment of uncertainty and turned it into momentum by getting licensed and officially stepping into real estate.

The Grind: No Deals, No Quitting

The early years weren’t easy. Like many entrepreneurs, Anthony faced long dry spells, marketing confusion, and moments of doubt.

“There were times I went six months without closing a deal,” he said. “This business is either marketing-intensive or lead-driven.”

His strategy? Stay ready. Keep overhead low. Be patient. And find ways to create income streams like investments that help you ride the slow seasons. It’s real talk that many aspiring realtors need to hear.

Investing for Impact: Building Wealth, Brick by Brick

Anthony’s lightbulb moment came when he bought his first home and realized how much the realtor made in commission. That spark led him to buy a duplex, live in one unit, and rent out the other, a classic wealth-building move that he now teaches to others.

“Being a landlord isn’t for everyone, but everyone should try it,” he says.

He also encourages supporting other investors, especially in communities of color where access to capital is often limited.

Whether it’s hosting back-to-school drives, Halloween trunk-or-treats, or toy giveaways during the holidays, Anthony’s heart remains with the community.

“I like to give back to the people I serve,” he said. 

He also regularly speaks at schools, introducing young people to careers they may have never considered.

“There’s opportunity out here that doesn’t look sexy, but it’s lucrative and meaningful.”
