Whew. Where do I even begin?
Before I submitted my application for the inaugural Movement for Black Lives Creator Academy, I almost talked myself out of it. I sat with doubt, wrestled with imposter syndrome, and wondered if my voice — my journey — would be enough. But deep down, I knew this opportunity had my name on it. So, I said a prayer, took a deep breath, and hit record.
I literally filmed myself saying, “God, if this is in your will for my life…”
And with trembling hands and a hopeful heart, I told my story.
And guess what?
I made it! I’m a part of the very first Creator Academy cohort.

If you would’ve told me a few weeks ago that I’d be typing these words, I probably would’ve smiled and doubted it just a little. But that’s the beauty of faith — sometimes you leap scared, unsure, maybe even unqualified… and still, you land right where you’re meant to be.
This fellowship is more than a title. It’s an affirmation.
It’s a space designed for activists, organizers, creators, and dreamers like me who believe in storytelling as a tool for liberation, who know that our voice — our truth — matters.
I am so incredibly grateful to Movement for Black Lives for this opportunity and for believing in me. I can’t wait to grow, to learn, to build, and to bloom. 🌸
To anyone reading this who’s been sitting on something — a dream, a prayer, an idea, an application… submit it. Speak life over yourself and take the leap. You don’t have to have it all figured out — just start.
Because everything you have is already within you. Do your best and let God do the rest.
What leap are you sitting on right now? I’d love to hear in the comments.
